Here are 10 simple things you can do and how much carbon dioxide you'll save doing them.

Change a light
Replacing one regular light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb will save 150 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.
Drive less
Walk, bike, carpool or take mass transit more often. You'll save one pound of carbon dioxide for every mile you don't drive!
Recycle more
You can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide per year by recycling just half of your household waste.
Check your tires
Keeping your tires inflated properly can improve gas mileage by more than 3%.
Every gallon of gasoline saved keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere!
Use less hot water
It takes a lot of energy to heat water. Use less hot water by installing a low flow showerhead (350 pounds of C02 saved per year) and washing your clothes in cold or warm water (500 pounds saved per year).
Avoid products with a lot of packaging
You can save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide if you cut down your garbage by 10%.
Adjust your thermostat
Moving your thermostat just 2 degrees in winter and up 2 degrees in summer
You could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year with this simple adjustment.
Plant a tree
A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.
Turn off electronic devices
Simply turning off your television, DVD player, stereo, and computer when you're
not using them will save you thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

Spread the word!

The New World

Monday, November 19, 2007

Global Warming is not a myth or a made up fact. It is a real threat which will impact each and every one of us in one way or another. Everything right from our daily life to the way that organizations run business depends on it and will be impacted. If we keep quiet and stay calm, it is us that would be affected by the events which will follow. Here is where the New World comes in to the picture. LIBA’s New World plans to bring about a total change of attitude and awareness among the b-school students who in the future will be among the most influential decision makers. The time has come to act now, or it will be too late..........

Some Facts:

 India may be a long way from melting polar ice caps, but its economy will be among the worst affect on account of climate change.
 According to a report by Lehman Brothers, India’s GDP would dip by 5% for every two degree temperature rise.
 Agricultural productivity would also be affected as monsoons will be short with intense bursts.
 Water supply would also suffer because of lesser snowfall in the Himalayas, which provide water for 40% of the world’s population.
 The effect on GDP will be non-linear. Initially, every 2 degree rise in temperature would result in a 3% dip in global GDP. The next 2 degrees would do even more damage to the economy.
 However for India the effects are likely to be much more harmful. For every 2 degree rise in temperature the effect on GDP is 5% and for the next 6 degrees it would be 15-16%.

It is just the beginning, not the end!

What happened during Chrysalis' 07

Monday, October 15, 2007

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results

Last year was the case where the results went beyond the expectations of the strategy and this feeling was one of the best you can get at the end of an event. For starters we just proved again that we are growing well beyond our expectations and we are not the lazy business school located in the heart of Chennai.

Some numbers..........

Around 500 students battling it out
Over 40 colleges represented
150 of the best quizzing teams spread across the country
Good media coverage
Over 2000 posters and banners

Well if last year was anything to be just wait for this year, I am sure we would not disappoint you and if you are one of those non conventional folks, just be part of Chrysalis’ 08 and you will have one of the best time of your life!

The Beginning

Chrysalis meeting called for asking for a theme.......
A mad idea stuck them
LAST STAND was idolized as a theme and eventually chosen
Some crazy plans drawn along the course
11th Feb Chrysalis’07 gets over and was a grand success.
